A gift from the world

This morning the prettiest little yellow and black bird was sitting in my parking space when I pulled up. I didn’t get a close look at it before it flew away. Then as I was walking inside I spotted two hummingbirds chasing one another and I thought how fun that must be to buzz around like that and chase your friend in the cool morning.

  • The cute little buggers are mean bastards to each other, too. They're very territorial and like to fight. I used to watch bunches of them dive-bomb each other for the use of my mom's birdfeeder when I was a kid. It was like watching the dog fights on Top Gun.
  • They're really amazing creatures.
  • I absolutely love hummingbirds. It always makes me smile to see the blur of their tiny wings as they zip around the flowers at school.
