Mommas and babies
Momma pangolins carry their babies on their backs. Doesn’t this just make you smile? GIS for pangolins.

Non-posting
I’ve been keeping most of my activity to the link blog as I have nothing terribly significant to report. Oh! My brother and I did head down to see my father this weekend to help him with a little technical support for his computer woes. The problem with his home computer was simple, but ultimately my fault for not enabling the particular setting when I last had his computer at my disposal. Later we went down to his office to work on his network there. Here’s what I learned: Windows Service Pack 2 enables the firewall by default when you install it and thus cuts off computers on the same workgroup. This is frustrating, and I’m sure it has annoyed millions of people.

Last night’s debates
Clearly, Kerry did much better. I was surprised at how honestly bad Bush was. As soon as it was over, the media machine pumped up Bush’s performance. Unsurprising.

No news
I may decide to stay contract with these people. It will work out to more money that way I think.

Big news
First of all, I can’t believe I woke up at 6:30am on a Saturday. What’s wrong with me? I had some extremely vivid dreams that really opened me up inside, but I’m not sure if that’s why I woke up. It may be because I’m already on some sort of normal sleep schedule.
Anyway, before I digress too much further I have some big news. I may be changing jobs soon. I don’t want to give away too many details until I find out more, but essentially I asked one of my clients if they’d like to take me on on a part-time basis so I could pursue starting my own business while providing for their needs developing websites and working with their customers. This was my idea for how to wade into going out on my own while still having some semblance of stability, although I’m not opposed to doing something there on a full-time basis either, which could later be an option.
This is a big opportunity with a lot of responsibility. I’d have to travel, meet with their customers, and run most of the technical side of things. We’re supposed to meet Sunday or Monday to talk more about it. It’s exciting!

Cool new feature of Firefox
While surfing around I discovered a cool new feature for Firefox. Here’s the description from the Firefox page:
“Live Bookmarks
You can now subscribe to and read RSS feeds in your Bookmarks. When you visit a page that advertises a RSS feed by using atag, a RSS icon will appear in the status bar. Click it to view a list of feeds the page is offering. Click one to subscribe – this adds a Bookmark Folder that contains all the recent posts from the feed.”
If you’re using the latest version of Firefox you should see the RSS icon add the bottom right of the window!
