  • BBC: The loser’s guide to getting lucky: My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

    1. Brilliant article on luck…as someone generally considered “lucky,” I definitely agree with the professor’s findings. Luck is really at least partly confidence and envisioning yourself being successful.

Someone once said that chance favors the prepared mind, and I think that’s very true.

And I do think that having two incomes in a family can cause you to spend more and save less if you’re not careful. Kind of a false sense of security thing…especially these days when having a job today is no guarantee you’ll have one tomorrow, or even later today. I’m a little sensitive about that since I lost my job the week after I got married. Good thing we had a cheapie Vegas wedding!
