They’re on the payroll

Fortune magazine had a warm and fuzzy piece on the Carlyle Group. It started out nicely and had some good stuff, but ultimately was more of a public relations profile:

Are you the sort of person who believes in conspiracies–the Trilateral Commission secretly runs the world, that sort of thing? Well, then, here’s a company for you. The Carlyle Group, a Washington, D.C., buyout firm, is one of the nation’s largest defense contractors. It has billions of dollars at its disposal and employs a few important people. Maybe you’ve heard of them: former Secretary of State Jim Baker, former Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci, and former White House budget director Dick Darman. Wait, we’re just getting warmed up. William Kennard, who recently headed the FCC, and Arthur Levitt, who just left the SEC, also work for Carlyle. As do former British Prime Minister John Major and former Philippines President Fidel Ramos. Let’s see, are we forgetting anyone? Oh, right, former President George Herbert Walker Bush is on the payroll too.

No neutrality

The American fuhrer has again reminded the rest of the world that if you are not with us you are against us.

In this piece for the BBC, “‘No neutrality’, warns Bush”. In this same speech Bush promises payoffs to countries who join his ‘coalition’. This is how they get things done with the carrot and the stick. On the one hand, he makes the veiled suggestion that you do what we say or you are with the terrorists and then he offers bribes to governments who cooperate. I need to dust off my Machiavelli so I can keep up with these snakes.

“The US encourages and expects governments everywhere to help remove the terrorist parasites that threaten their own countries and the peace of the world,” he said.

“If governments need training or resources America will help.”

Men of Steel

The US military is spending wasting more money developing battlefield robots. Haven’t they seen The Terminator? Those who are ignorant of film history are doomed to repeat it. From the article on the ‘men of steel’:

The new battle network, known as “Future Combat Systems”, will enable sophisticated weapons to be deployed close to enemy lines with a minimum risk of casualties.

A spokesman for the Pentagon’s Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency said: “The aim is to be able to do everything you would ever need to do on the battlefield, using a combination of manned and unmanned systems. They would be able to fire at things, defend themselves, do reconnaissance and find targets.”

These weapons also have the nice feature of lacking any conscience or sense of morality. How convenient. There will be some good ways to fight these things, they will have to be controlled by human operators probably through radio or satellite transmissions. All you would need to do is to interrupt that link and these would be useless. I wonder how many countries are developing HERF guns and EMP tech to disable electronics. Also, you could do something like have a directed EMP beam or laser that could knock out communications satellites. Or, better yet, these satellites could be infilitrated somehow. It is all very exciting and scary. I am remined of that Simpsons episode (The Secret War of Lisa Simpson) where Lisa and Bart graduate from military school. At their graduation the commandant gives this speech:

The wars of the future will not be fought on the battlefield or at sea.
They will be fought in space, or possibly on top of a very tall
mountain. In either case, most of the actual fighting will be done by
small robots. And as you go forth today remember always your duty is
clear: To build and maintain those robots. Thank you.

That’s about what the average person in the military does these days. Scrape paint, polish something, clean things, and other jobs you couldn’t hire anyone to do without having them indentured for four years. You also get the added bonus of completely ruining your life for at least several years. Even our current and last president had no interest in serving for the military.

Osama Bush

The truth is out there … right?

At first, it all seemed so obvious. It was those Islamic terrorists. Osama bin Laden. Mullah Omar. George W. Bush had nothing to do with it … did he?

Ian Mulgrew originally from Vancouver Sun

“The right wing benefited so much from September 11 that, if I were still a conspiratorialist, I would believe they’d done it.”

Norman Mailer

When the paladin of Camelot joined the fray, I knew 9/11 had become the Kennedy Assassination of the 21st century — a real-life X-Files episode occurring before my eyes. Like those X-Files accounts of aliens living in oil deposits, this was a story with such staggering implications the mainstream media are loath to go near it. The question isn’t who killed the president — it’s who piloted the airplanes that slammed into the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvanian countryside.

The Caligulian American Justice System

Here’s another good piece by Wayne Madsen and John Stanton via Cryptome:

The Caligulian American Justice System–U.N. Intervention is Necessary

by Wayned Madsen and John Stanton

John Stanton is a Virginia-based writer on national security affairs and Wayne Madsen is a Washington, DC-based investigative journalist who writes and comments frequently on civil liberties and human rights issues.

The U.S. justice system (courts, enforcement agencies, rule and law making bodies) was the last venue of hope for America’s censored, oppressed, disenfranchised, and falsely accused. Indeed, the authors of the U.S. Constitution recognized that the third branch of government, the judicial branch, must be the stable and incorruptible anchor of American government and society as the other two branches — executive and legislative — would be subject to the whim and whimsy of special interests and the public whose opinions would invariably reflect those special interests. But what was once the envy of the world is now gangrene on the public body of a once proud nation, and it is the site of squalor, death, exploitation, rape, abuse, experimentation, and profit and loss.

At this critical moment in U.S. history when the American justice system is needed to stem the tide of American totalitarianism, it finds itself incapable of doing so. What a tragic commentary on a once novel and enlightened system that ended segregation, gave the convicted rights, ensured a free press and dissent, enforced a women’s right-to-choose, and checked the imperious power of the executive branch. Now, however, it is extraordinarily politicized and corrupted at every level, and wealthy ideologues, corporations and defendants with money to burn far too easily manipulate it. It is a system that is suspect by the general public and daily mocked by shows like Judge Judy. High school students in America know that the right amount of money and influence can buy a favorable decision, a legislative loophole, timeshare at a low security Federal Prison Camp, and even the US presidency as the Election of 2000 demonstrated.

The Slide Towards Totalitarianism

More and more people are added to the list of ‘terrorists’. Black muslims, environmentalists, peace activists, abortion opponents, pro-choice activists, AIDS activists, right-wing militias, white supremacists, cult religions, internet ‘pirates’, and supporters of constitutional government. As government and power becomes concentrated and people lose more and more freedom this will keep happening. If you do what you’re told and put up with the loss of your rights, you are building your own future prison.

In a FoxNews article the US is making their play against ‘domestic terrorist organizations’. Where is the evidence? The US has still not shown evidence against Al Quaeda and everyone else they’re targetting. The WTC was destroyed and immediately the government knew who to attack? How ridiculous! You have to ask yourself, who benefitted from the WTC attacK? Al Quaeda? Islamic extremists? The corrupt US government benefitted the most. The panic induced by the WTC attack led people to give away their rights under the USA and Patriot Acts.
