Tomorrow is the start of my weekend. I’m going to try to fill it to the brim starting with going tubing (or is toobing?) tomorrow on the guadalupe river with Marge and Andrea which will involve cold water, cold beer, truck inner tubes, and soggy cigarettes. I think between the eight hour trip and the three hour trip we’ll do the three hour one. I’m hoping to come back not waterlogged or sunburnt, but only blissfully exhausted and warm with sun, and maybe even with some good photos! I wish my digital camera was more tolerant of water. I’ll probably need to get one of those disposable jobs.

CD Compilations
I’m making a new CD compilation. It’s fun to be creative make little things for people, and it reminds me of all the little projects I had as a kid. Like making my own dryer sheets, shoebox dioramas, secret agent ID badges, puppets from pantyhose and foam, things from pipe cleaners, and stop motion films with playdoh.
Oh, yeah, so dryer sheets, this is the one everyone asks about since it sounds wacky. But basically, when I was a kid, I was responsible for all the laundry in the house. If it was washed I did it. It was my personal chore. Sorting, washing, folding, ironing. The works. Anyway, in the garage I had a neat little area with three laundry hampers: linens, colors, and whites. I even had a little rug in front of the appliances so I didn’t have to stand on the hard concrete.
I got the idea to start making my own dryer sheets. So, I took some old t-shirts cut them into strips and soaked them in fabric softener and then let them dry out. That’s what I would use. I’m almost positive it didn’t save any money, but that wasn’t the point really.

Me, about seven years ago
This is a really goofy photo. So much more naive and hopeful, but not really so much when I remember how naive and hopeful I am now.

Old tyme religion
This site has a great rundown of the basic concepts of Alfred Adler. A few weeks ago I had a talk with a friend of mine who, to my surprise, informed me that they were attending counseling. I was impressed at this admission and that they had initiated this on their own. It started me thinking about how I really should do something like that. I’ve always had this attitude that I can ‘fix’ my own issues myself, but if you know me you know that I see to always have certain problems. That’s not to say that I’m completely fucked up although some (not mentioning names here) would differ, just that I think it might help to have an objective opinion about things. Someone who will have real strategies for dealing with things. I don’t know. Has anyone else found this to be beneficial?

Tree sperms
Why do the trees and plants have it in for me? They spew their pollen and gametes into the air in an attempt to make more baby trees and in the process cause me considerable irritation and adversity. I like baby trees as much as the next guy but at what cost? I’m tired of sneezing and itchy eyes. I took two benedryl and woke up in my chair almost four hours later. It needs to stop. Not to mention that it seems really inefficient to just blow clouds of pollen into the air. There’s something perverse about billions of tree sperms wafting about on currents of air and then getting sucked up peoples’ noses. Why don’t trees just do it the old-fashioned way like everything else? You know, gettin’ it on. The thought of this actually brings strange images to mind and a whole new meaning to ‘wood’.
Goodnight. I’m going to go to sleep.
pollen n. : a fine powder produced by the anthers of seed-bearing plants; fine grains contain male gametes
gamete n. : a mature sexual reproductive cell having a single set of unpaired chromosomes

Gruene
I had a fun day today, eating a lot, drinking a lot, smoking a lot. This is me soaking my feet in the guadalupe river in Gruene, Texas while sucking down budweisers and shooting the breeze. The water felt wonderful. I think I’m going to try to go tubing next week.

Bumming around
I’m out at Little City trying to cool off before my hair appointment (Did I actually just say ‘hair appointment’?). I love running errands and getting crap done. It makes me feel like my life is under some semblance of control and order. Although lugging around this laptop in the sun makes me realize how much I need to get real exercise. I’m also wondering if I should get one of those laptop bags that looks like a backpack. It’s probably easier to carry around.
